Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Our products handle information at massive scale and extend well beyond web search. We welcome engineers from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design, and mobile development. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as our fast-paced business grows and evolves. We value versatility, leadership, and enthusiasm to tackle new problems across the full stack as we push technology forward.

Join the Wallet first-party (1P) Integrations team and help make Wallet an indispensable part of the Google experience. This role focuses on Gmail, Chrome, and Android integrations, powering actionable, intelligent passes in Google Wallet. You will enhance how we save and autofill data for receipts, flights, events, loyalty programs, and more, directly impacting millions of users. Recent launches include improved Gmail, Chrome, and Android loyalty card saves to Wallet and autofill from Wallet. Upcoming projects involve expanding to more data types such as receipts and migrating the UX to new user experiences.

The Payments team at Google is focused on making payments simple, seamless, and secure—whether paying online with Autofill, using tap and pay in stores, or using the Google Pay app. The team also powers money movement between Google and its consumers and businesses.

  • Design and implement new features, improve existing features, and build UI components with a focus on maintainability and reusability within the Google Wallet Android app and Google Play Services modules.
  • Participate actively in code reviews, provide and incorporate feedback to maintain code quality and share knowledge.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers, Product Managers, UX, and other teams (such as Chrome and Gmail intelligence teams) to understand requirements and deliver solutions.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of software development experience in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  • 1 year of experience with data structures and algorithms.

Preferred qualifications

  • 1 year of experience with Android application development.
  • Experience in Android Java app development and Google Play Services modules.
  • Experience in Machine Learning and AI quality evaluations.
