Trainee – 12 months’ contract – Legal Counsel

Overview

Providing legal advice and support to SG’s Global Banking and Advisory (GLBA) team and other departments in the Asia-Pacific region, including transaction management of matters in relation to debt capital markets, third-party note issuance, loan financing and securitisation, and other related legal documentation.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with external counsel and external bodies including regulators, stock exchanges, clearing systems, paying, settlement and listing agents, distributors, registrars, common depositories and other authorities.
• Report and escalate relevant matters to line managers on an ongoing basis and coordinate with other members of the legal department as necessary.
• Ensure compliance with internal guidelines and procedures, and assist in updating guidelines and procedures related to the above activities.

This role offers a Junior Lawyer the opportunity to be trained and exposed to finance activities in a dynamic environment. The candidate will gain hands-on experience with drafting and reviewing legal documentation related to debt/note issuance, loan financing and securitisation (including transaction documentation and confidentiality agreements) and exposure to contract law. The candidate will gain a solid understanding of the investment banking setup and develop valuable interpersonal (soft) skills.
