Job Role and Responsibilities

AMD, Inc., is hiring Silicon Design Engineer to research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing, employing knowledge of electronic theory. Perform pre-Silicon functional verification of next-generation high-performance microprocessor designs. Perform definition, design, verification, and/or documentation for ASIC development. Determine architecture design, logic design, and/or system simulation. Perform functional feature verification. Participate in development of formal verification techniques. Define module interfaces/formats for simulation. Contribute to the development of multidimensional designs involving the layout of complex integrated circuits. Develop environments, infrastructure, and test plans. Evaluate all aspects of the process flow from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, and timing and power use. Under limited supervision, exercise judgment within defined company procedures and practices to select methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, and electronic equipment, as well as knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.

Qualifications

Degree required. Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Electronics Engineering.

Specific skills

The following skills are required:

  • Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL
  • C, C++, or Python
  • Performing hardware verification
  • Design flows and methodologies used for chip verification
  • ASIC design tools (synthesis, simulation, equivalence checking, and static timing analysis)
  • CPU, GPU, or SoC architecture
  • RTL design and coding
  • Logic and circuit design
  • Unix and Linux environments

Experience may be gained through graduate-level coursework, research, or internship experience.
