The summer internship runs 10 weeks in the US (open to current sophomores with a 3.0+ GPA in business, finance, economics, real estate, or statistics) and 9 weeks in the UK (open to penultimate-year undergraduates on track for a 2:1, graduating the following spring), with placements across public and private fixed income, real assets, real estate, and capital solutions teams. Outstanding interns are considered for conversion into the Analyst Program upon graduation, so the internship is the de facto entry to the full-time graduate cohort: a candidate applying directly to the Analyst Program competes against a slate already partly filled by returning interns.

The summer internship reflects that focus: placements posted in the London office have included Emerging Markets Corporate Credit, Private Finance, High Yield, Infrastructure Debt, Portfolio Solutions & Analytics, and Real Estate, with no equity research or M&A advisory tracks listed. For an early-career applicant choosing between asset managers, Barings is the credit- and alternatives-weighted option – relevant if the role you want is buy-side credit or private markets, less so if you are targeting equity research or traditional public-equity portfolio management.
