About The Role

We are seeking a Research Analyst to be based in either the Washington D.C. or New York City office within the Corporate Positioning & Insights practice, serving on the primary research team.

Research Analysts support the execution and analysis of primary research engagements, working closely with more senior team members across quantitative and qualitative projects.

Responsibilities include supporting survey and qualitative research logistics, developing initial drafts of research materials and deliverables, conducting data analysis, and helping ensure projects are delivered accurately and efficiently.

What You’ll Do

• Support the development of primary research materials, including first drafts of questionnaires, discussion guides, and other research instruments.
• Assist in preparing survey specifications, including sample quotas, banner plans, table stubs, and analysis requirements, and review outputs to ensure they are accurate and complete.
• Support the day-to-day execution of research projects, including survey fielding, survey link testing, vendor coordination, focus group logistics, timeline tracking, and quality control.
• Develop first drafts of project materials and deliverables, including PowerPoint presentations, toplines, data tables, and written summaries of findings.
• Review survey data, tabulations, and research outputs for accuracy and consistency.
• Support focus groups and in-depth interviews, including preparation, note-taking, analysis, and development of findings.
• Assist senior team members with project management across larger and more complex research engagements.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of research processes, tools, and methodologies, including AI-powered methodologies.

What You Will Need to Succeed

Basic Qualifications

• 1+ years of professional experience involving primary research, market research, and insights-related work.
• Familiarity with quantitative and/or qualitative research methodologies, including basic principles of questionnaire design, sampling, and survey data quality, with an interest in developing deeper research expertise.
• Experience supporting survey research projects, including questionnaire development, survey testing, fieldwork, data cleaning, tabulation, and/or analysis. Experience with survey programming and research platforms such as Qualtrics, Forsta/Decipher, or similar tools is preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint, with the ability to develop clear, polished charts, slides, and presentations; proficiency in Excel for organizing, reviewing, and analyzing data. Ability to interpret survey results, tables, and charts; identify relevant patterns, differences, and unexpected findings; and investigate potential explanations.
• Strong attention to detail, particularly when reviewing data, questionnaires, presentations, and other client deliverables.
• Comfort experimenting with AI and emerging technologies to improve research quality, analysis, and day-to-day efficiency, while applying appropriate judgment and quality control.
• Travel required to clients and to FTI office(s).
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; the employer will not sponsor applicants for work visas.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience supporting survey research projects, including questionnaire development, survey testing, fieldwork, data cleaning, tabulation, and/or analysis. Experience with survey programming and research platforms such as Qualtrics, Forsta/Decipher, or similar tools is preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint, with the ability to develop clear, polished charts, slides, and presentations; proficiency in Excel for organizing, reviewing, and analyzing data. Ability to interpret survey results, tables, and charts; identify relevant patterns, differences, and unexpected findings; and investigate potential explanations.
• Ability to summarize research findings clearly and concisely.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to support multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Collaborative and proactive approach, with a willingness to learn, ask questions, contribute ideas, and respond positively to feedback.
• Comfortable taking ownership of assigned tasks while working closely with more senior team members.
• Ability to work effectively across teams and offices in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Compensation:

Minimum Pay: $71,000

Maximum Pay: $92,000

Compensation Disclosure: The compensation range reflects potential base salary for the role. Actual compensation is determined based on a wide array of relevant factors including market considerations, business needs, and an individual’s location, skills, level of experience, and qualifications.
