Research Engineering

The Research Engineering team develops and deploys the pipelines that connect a research idea all the way to its rollout in production. We ensure that the entire pipeline describing our research is efficient, effective, and scalable. Team members collaborate closely with our researchers, actively discussing problems, preparing solutions on the day, and planning for safe deployment.

The scope of the team covers anything that accelerates the path from research to production at massive scale. This includes designing external data ingestion pipelines, writing feature discovery and storage systems, building model validators and experiment trackers, authoring and deploying bespoke algorithms, or figuring out how to roll out novel solutions.

We utilize a broad toolkit including Python, C++, and internal domain-specific languages, and we are eager to adopt new tools and languages as required.

About You

• You write production code in both Python and C++, knowing when to leverage C++ for performance.
• You possess natural curiosity about how different teams' systems operate, proactively identifying integration weaknesses before they become issues.
• You enjoy managing multiple complex projects simultaneously, connecting opportunities and solutions that others might overlook.
• You are motivated to solve problems using the best available tool, rather than adhering to a specialization in one area.
• You enjoy partnering with research stakeholders across the business and are adept at understanding underlying needs, rather than just surface requests.
• You have commercial experience owning a component in production that others relied upon, handling maintenance, debugging, and long-term operational support.

What You Don't Need

We do not require a finance background or expertise in every language. Similarly, we do not mandate a specific number of years in any particular role. We hire engineers who enjoy solving the challenging problems faced by our traders; we will provide the necessary ground context.
