Key Job Responsibilities

As an Operations Engineer Intern, you may have the opportunity to join one of the following teams: Project Management, Change Management, People Management, Planning, Contracting Management, Infrastructure, Reliability Maintenance Engineering, and more. You will work on a project with real impact within Amazon, including:

  • Design, build, improve, and innovate order fulfillment infrastructure throughout the large-scale supply chain network.
  • Manage, design, and implement small to medium scope integrated automation projects with system elements such as high-speed sortation, multiple conveyors, package lines, and/or robotic work cells.
  • Develop alongside global teams to support the planning, installation, and commissioning of new equipment, including project managing implementation of new processes.
  • Support within the EU Controls network on a project to enhance the capability to monitor MHE metrics and provide visualization and data to internal customers.
  • Work on a program to train technicians in the basics of control systems fault finding to raise the level of knowledge within the site.

A Day in the Life

Every day is different as an Operations Engineer Intern. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers on real projects that design, build, and improve fulfillment infrastructure across Amazon’s large-scale supply chain network. You might spend your morning analyzing MHE performance data and developing visualizations to help teams monitor equipment metrics, then spend your afternoon on the warehouse floor supporting the installation and commissioning of new automation equipment.

You will collaborate with global teams, interface with stakeholders at all levels, and drive solutions with real operational impact.

Amazon’s fulfillment network relies on cutting-edge technology—from robotics and high-speed sortation to conveyance systems and robotic work cells. Regardless of the team you join (Project Management, Reliability Maintenance Engineering, Controls, or Infrastructure), part of your role involves solving complex engineering challenges. You’ll design and implement improvements, support process innovation, and contribute to programs that build technical capability across sites—developing your engineering, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills in a dynamic, international environment.

Internship Start Dates

We are hiring interns to start in Q2 2027 with 12 months availability.

Basic Qualifications

  • Currently in your final or penultimate year and working towards a university bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Automation, Industrial, or Software), or a STEM subject.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel at an advanced level, including pivot tables, macros, index/match, vlookup, VBA, data links, etc.
  • Fluency in English (speak, write, and read) at C1 level or above.
  • Available for a full-time internship (40 hours/week) with a Q2 start date and able to commit to a 12-month internship.

Preferred Qualifications
