Generative AI Engineer Intern - SAP Singapore

About the Role

At SAP, Corporate Processes & IT (CPIT) is the internal IT organization for SAP. Our purpose is to create, build, and run an intelligent enterprise by providing customer-centric insights and technologies.

As a Generative AI Engineer Intern at the Generative AI Center of Excellence (GenAI CoE), you will join the Enterprise AI Center of Excellence within the Technology Services department. You will collaborate with a global team of AI engineers, scientists, and product managers based in Germany, France, and Singapore.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Work alongside AI scientists, engineers, product owners, and domain experts.
• Assist the development and deployment of AI solutions to improve business efficiency and productivity.
• Assist in the co-development of a Large Language Model Platform-as-a-Service with product engineering teams.
• Assist in developing scalable, reusable services to support applications powered by generative AI.
• Support the maintenance of production systems to ensure high availability and performance.
• Experiment with different Large Language Model deployments (e.g., vLLM, LiteLLM).
• Contribute to platform application development using CAP or Python FastAPI.
• Communicate with stakeholders to understand internal business processes and challenges.
• Experiment with techniques such as prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and agentic workflows.
• Stay up to date with the latest developments in machine learning and GenAI technologies, and evaluate potential applications in business processes.

What You Bring

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Ability to commit to a full-time internship for a period of at least three months.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages: JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python.
• Proficiency with development tools such as Git.
• Experience with a generative AI technical stack (e.g., agent frameworks, RAG), including integrating and applying it in real-world projects.
• Experience with Python-based AI/ML frameworks, specifically LangChain and LlamaIndex.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently with ownership and also as part of a team with a strong sense of responsibility.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Backend application development proficiency using NodeJS or FastAPI is a plus.
• Frontend framework proficiency such as Vue, React, or Angular is a plus.
• Deployment tools such as Docker or Kubernetes is a plus.
• Experience with SAP UI5 or Open UI5 is a plus.
• Experience with application deployment on SAP Business Technology Platform is a plus.
