Underwriting Intern

Location: New York (NYC Office) — 4 days/week

Summary

Under immediate supervision, learns, shadows, and provides support to the Healthcare Professional Liability team.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial review and analysis of transaction submissions, including reviewing financial statements, business operational information, and purchase agreements.
• Assess transaction risks and prepare preliminary terms for policy indications.
• Assist Underwriters in managing the deal pipeline, including maintaining electronic underwriting files, producing indications, coordinating due diligence with outside counsel and accountants, and preparing insurance policies for issuance.
• Attend marketing events, business development events, and group strategy sessions.

Desired Skills and Experience

• Working toward a Bachelor’s degree and currently enrolled or recently enrolled in a relevant field.
• Eager to learn, detail-oriented, and a team-player who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Solid written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
• Intermediate proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Spring 2028 graduation strongly preferred.
• 60 hours of general college coursework with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Compensation & Pay Transparency (New York)

The pay range for this position is $23–29/hour, which includes geographic adjustments where applicable. The hired applicant will be offered pay within the full range based on geographic location, qualifications, work experience, education, and/or skill level.
