Position Summary
Carlyle AlpInvest seeks to hire an Analyst with a focus on co-investments. The Analyst is a two-year program, with an optional 6-month extension. Located in the Hong Kong office and reporting to the Managing Director & Head of Carlyle AlpInvest’s co-investment effort in the Asia Pacific region, the Analyst will play a key role in supporting investment functions, including financial modeling, valuation, analysis of private equity investments, preparation of investment recommendations, post-investment portfolio monitoring, and various ad hoc reports and projects as needed.
Primary Responsibilities
- Apply critical thinking and judgment in the review of private equity (PE) investment opportunities.
- Construct detailed financial models, perform industry and competitive analysis, and conduct investment or financial analysis to support due diligence requests.
- Monitor ongoing portfolio companies through interactions with GPs and review of financial information.
- Develop relationships with GPs through annual meeting attendance.
- Prepare periodic investor updates and conduct analyses to support relationship-building with the co-investment team’s LP base and fundraising activities.
- Support senior members of the co-investments team in the execution of transactions.
Requirements
Education & Certificates
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related discipline (e.g., accounting, economics), with above-average results.
Professional Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience at an investment bank, private equity firm, management consulting, or similar setting, with exposure to a wide range of transactions, valuation work, and due diligence assignments.
Competencies & Attributes
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Knowledge of Japanese is considered an advantage.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and comfort working with technology.
- Strong research and analytical skills, along with superior interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
- Familiarity with financial modeling, valuation methodologies, and accounting principles.
- Ability to communicate confidently and effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization, including senior management.
