What is the Opportunity?

As an Analyst in the Natural Resources Group (comprising Power, Utilities, Energy and Metals & Mining sectors), you will support senior bankers in the origination, syndication, and execution of investment-grade debt transactions across the capital structure. Your primary objective will be to act as a strategic advisor to clients, providing tailored origination and financing strategies.

What will you do?

  • Assist in executing RBC’s Investment Banking activities, including capital raising and capital structure advisory for debt-related products
  • Generate and maintain client presentations including market updates and pitch materials
  • Analyze fixed income fundamentals and macroeconomic trends to develop client recommendations. Manipulate datasets into a visual manner
  • Collaborate with Syndicate, Sales & Trading, Corporate Banking, M&A, Risk Solutions (Interest Rate and FX derivatives) and product-agnostic coverage Investment Banking to produce internal and client-facing materials
  • Support senior officers in executing debt transactions, including managing internal processes, approvals, and client deliverables under tight deadlines
  • Compile and synthesize investment-grade bond issuance data into client-friendly content
  • Prepare and distribute indicative pricing information, market commentary, and economic updates for clients
  • Manage ad hoc client requests and projects
  • Collaborate with external professionals, such as lawyers, accountants, etc.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Experience: 1-2 years of previous experience in investment banking, capital markets, debt advisory, rating agency, corporate finance, or related field
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Math or related field required
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of capital markets; interest in investment-grade debt and the Natural Resources sector, including trends in the Power, Utilities, Energy and Metals & Mining sectors.
  • Attributes: Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to go above and beyond
  • Skills:
    • Exceptional quantitative and analytical skills
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to collaborate across cross-functional and geographically diverse teams
    • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Bloomberg
    • Strong presentation and project management skills
    • Series 7, 63, 79, SIE certification

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $125,000 - $135,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
