ING in Asia Pacific

In Asia Pacific, ING offers wholesale banking across 11 markets: Australia, China, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam. ING provides both retail and wholesale banking services in Australia. The regional presence includes a 13% stake in Bank of Beijing, China, and a 30% stake in TMBThanachart Bank in Thailand. Singapore is the regional headquarters for ING's Wholesale Banking (WB) business in Asia Pacific, covering all WB lines such as Financial Markets, Strategic Products, Sectors, Lending and Transaction Services, and other support functions.

What does the Metals, Mining and Fertilisers (“MMF”) Team do in ING?

MMF APAC is responsible for relationships and business development with Asian and Australian ING WB clients involved in metals and mining activities in China, Mongolia, Indonesia, and Australia. The MMF sector includes copper mining and smelting, iron ore mining, bauxite mining (and associated aluminum smelting and refining), nickel mining and processing, and gold mining and processing. With the global transition to an energy system based on renewables, there is a growing focus on critical battery minerals such as lithium and nickel across the mining, smelting, and precursor segments.

ING has consistently held a top-3 position in the global league tables as a lead arranger in mining transactions, with a strong track record in project finance. MMF provides structured corporate debt solutions for the mining sector to finance acquisitions, mine expansions, greenfield construction, or to refinance existing debt. In addition to structured lending, the team collaborates with other product teams to provide access to a full suite of banking products, including advisory services, financial markets, and debt capital markets.

What would you be doing?

We are looking for an intern to join the MMF team, where you will work alongside relationship managers and deal principals. The intern will be part of the client deal teams and assist with the following:

• Preparation of client pitches
• Preparation and writing of credit papers for structured lending transactions
• Research on prospect companies and strategy papers
• Internal reports and dashboards for reporting and research purposes
• Other ad hoc projects

What qualities, skills and other criteria are we looking for?

We are seeking a passionate individual who meets the following criteria:

• You should have legal work rights in the country of internship (Singapore)
• Strong interest in commodity markets
• Familiarity with Excel (VBA) and PowerPoint
• Strong financial and analytical skills
• Experience with data visualization
• A hands-on, can-do mentality
• Good communication and interpersonal skills; strong team player
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken
