Job Description

The intern will have the opportunity to work closely with various teams and collaborate across a wide range of stakeholders in the MUFG Singapore business units. The intern will support strategic initiatives at a regional level across loan portfolio strategy, credit management, distribution strategy, and risk appetite design of the credit portfolio comprising non-Japanese clients in Asia Pacific excluding Japan. This internship offers hands-on experience in cross-functional collaboration, portfolio management, data analysis, and strategic planning in a dynamic international banking environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting data analysis and strategy development for the hold-to-maturity loan portfolio, including capital allocation modelling and profitability tracking.
  • Assisting in the implementation of frameworks to mitigate credit risk of the portfolio, including monitoring market conditions and assessment of credit and concentration risks.
  • Providing support in the approval process for loan distribution and the credit insurance product as a risk mitigation tool, to assess profitability and returns on capital. Engaging with the credit insurance market in discussions, negotiations, and binding of transactions.
  • Designing and monitoring loan distribution strategies, including KPI and performance tracking.
  • Preparing reports and strategic recommendations for management across multiple business areas.
  • Collaborating with regional teams, branches, credit offices, and data analytics groups to ensure alignment and execution of strategic initiatives.

Job Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with financial modelling and data visualization tools is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interest in credit risk, portfolio strategy, and international banking operations.

This internship role is based in Singapore and is open to Singaporean and PR students only.
