The programmes
Proofpoint's internship program runs four distinct student pathways:
- Summer internship: a 12-week immersive placement in a specific team
- Work-study internship: part-time over 12 months while enrolled at university
- Placement year: a full year of university study spent at Proofpoint
- Co-op: run with a local university as an adjunct to a cybersecurity course
The summer cohort closes with a Showcase where interns present their projects, and the firm is currently recruiting student roles for the 2026 cycle, including a Summer 2026 software-engineer internship and a six-month cybersecurity co-op. The pathways differ sharply in length: a 12-week summer block fits inside one vacation, while the placement-year and work-study formats run alongside or in place of a full year of study – so which one fits depends less on the team than on how much time out of a degree an applicant can give.
