NXP runs six named student and early-career tracks listed on its students and new graduates page, rather than a single graduate scheme:

• Full-time internship: ~40 hours per week, 3 to 12 months, registered student required for the full period
• Apprenticeship: France only, part-time alongside studies, generally 1 to 3 years
• Working student: Austria, Germany and the Netherlands, 8 to 20 hours per week, 6 months or longer
• Graduate / thesis assignment: ~6 months
• PhD assignment: 3 to 5 years, typically through university collaborations
• New college graduate (entry-level): a maximum of 2 years of full-time experience

Each track is recruited continuously by location and team rather than as an annual cohort. Geography is the first filter on what is even available — apprenticeship is France-only, working student is DE/AT/NL — so a candidate should map duration and country before treating any one track as a default.

NXP's careers FAQ states that work-visa sponsorship is "handled on a case-by-case basis to determine eligibility" and depends on the position and the candidate's qualifications. For US roles the policy is more specific: international students on Curricular Practical Training (CPT) may take an internship with paperwork handled by NXP's University Team, and full-time international hires can use Optional Practical Training (OPT) with H-1B petitions submitted in the next filing window. A US-based international candidate has a defined CPT-then-OPT-then-H-1B path; outside the US, sponsorship is genuinely role-dependent and a candidate should confirm with the recruiter on each posting rather than assume the firm-wide policy applies.

A candidate choosing among chip employers should weigh whether automotive embedded work is the field they want to build in — at NXP the work portfolio is anchored on it — and whether the regional structure of the student tracks matches where they are studying.
