The track list is unusual for a UK new-grad scheme – graduate roles on silicon design and ML compiler integration are rarely on offer elsewhere – so it sits as a specialist option for candidates with directly aligned degrees rather than as a generalist scheme to file alongside consulting or banking applications.

The firm designs the Intelligence Processing Unit (IPU), a novel processor architecture built for AI workloads as an alternative to GPUs. In July 2024 SoftBank acquired Graphcore for around $500 million; it operates as a wholly owned SoftBank subsidiary, with the founders retained and a stated collaboration on AGI-scale infrastructure.
