The same process is the firm's primary graduate selection across its ASEAN markets. A six-stage loop concentrates the workload: a candidate moving through it spends several weeks across the cognitive games, the assessment centre, and the senior rounds, so the programme is rarely run as a light add-on alongside a wider banking application set.

CIMB's fresh graduate hub and students hub publish four named programmes:

• The Complete Banker™ Programme: 24 months of structured rotations across retail and non-retail banking, data and digital, and governance and risk, including a regional rotation across ASEAN; minimum CGPA 3.25, open to undergraduate and master's graduates with under a year of work experience.
• PROTÉGÉ: eight months total, combining one week of classroom training with on-the-job rotations; minimum entry is a diploma.
• Headstart Internship Programme: a minimum 10-week internship, primarily in CIMB Malaysia and accepted year-round, with intakes also at CIMB Niaga (Indonesia) and CIMB's Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Philippines entities via each country's HR team.
• CIMB ASEAN Scholarship: a full undergraduate or master's scholarship for designated ASEAN-country citizens, with a compulsory paid internship at CIMB in the penultimate year and a one- or two-year employment bond per year studied (capped at five years).

The four sort onto different tracks: a long graduate scheme (the Complete Banker), a shorter rotational route (PROTÉGÉ), an internship that doubles as a screened gateway into the graduate scheme, and a scholarship that pre-commits several years of post-study employment. A candidate typically picks one rather than running them in parallel.

Alongside the graduate scheme the bank runs an ASEAN Scholarship that funds undergraduate or master's study for citizens of designated ASEAN countries and links each award to a compulsory paid CIMB internship in the scholar's home country plus a one- or two-year post-graduation employment bond per year studied. For a Southeast-Asian early-career candidate the practical question becomes whether the multi-country apprenticeship and, in the scholarship's case, the multi-year bond are commitments to make up front rather than to keep open at every step.
