Airbnb publishes six early-career tracks, each scoped to a specific geography and a fixed function set:

• Summer Intern Program (USA): 12 weeks, May–August, in Communications, Finance, Legal, and Public Policy
• Part-Time Semester Internship (USA): 4–6 months, in Business Operations and Privacy Law
• Operations & Central Functions Internship (APAC): 6 months in Australia, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, or India, across Public Policy, Communications, Legal, Finance, Global Operations, and Analytics
• Operations & Central Functions Internship (EMEA): 6 months in France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Ireland, or the UK, in the same function set
• Operations & Central Functions Internship (LATAM): 6–12 months in Brazil or Mexico, in the same function set
• Connect Engineering Apprenticeship: roughly 5 months in San Francisco, software engineering only, applications open in April

A candidate's country of work-authorisation and target function usually pick the track outright. The work is identifying the single track a candidate actually qualifies for, rather than spreading applications across many.

Airbnb's recruiting FAQ states that the firm "only considers applicants who are already legally able to work in the country that the job is based in," and that "visa sponsorship is very rare and is only for specialized positions." Individual US intern postings repeat that visa sponsorship is unavailable for the role; F-1 students already in the US using CPT for internships and OPT for new-graduate positions are eligible. For an applicant whose only path to US work authorisation would be a new sponsorship, Airbnb's intern and entry-level surface is effectively closed, and the limited application bandwidth is better spent on firms that publicly sponsor at the intern level.

Three concrete things separate Airbnb's early-career surface from peer big-tech programs:

• The Connect Engineering Apprenticeship is an explicit non-degree path into software engineering: it admits bootcampers, self-taught coders, and associate-degree holders with under one year of professional engineering experience, runs roughly five months in San Francisco, and considers successful apprentices for full-time engineering offers.
• The regional internships in APAC, EMEA, and LATAM are scoped to operations and central functions only — Public Policy, Communications, Legal, Finance, Global Operations, Analytics — making Airbnb a direct route into early-career non-engineering work at a US tech company from those regions.
• Full-time employees operate under the Live and Work Anywhere policy, which lets staff work from over 170 countries for up to 90 days a year in each location, with no compensation change for domestic US relocation.

These narrow the candidates for whom Airbnb is the right primary application: a non-CS engineering candidate routing through Connect, an early-career non-engineering applicant based outside the US, or a candidate whose decision turns substantially on long-term geographic flexibility.
