NVIDIA's university recruiting page lists several distinct early-career tracks rather than one scheme:

• Internships: year-round, a minimum of 12 weeks, open to BS, MS, PhD, and MBA candidates
• Ignite: a 12-week summer pre-internship for current freshmen and sophomores, based on-site in Santa Clara, with Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, and Business Operations tracks (confirmed in NVIDIA's 2026 Ignite listings)
• MBA: internships and roles aimed at business and corporate functions
• PhD: research internships across the Research organization and product and engineering teams
• New College Graduate (NCG): full-time roles spanning high-performance computing, graphics, edge computing, networking, and autonomous machines

Because internships run year-round rather than in a single summer block, a candidate can target a start that fits their academic calendar instead of one fixed window; but the 12-week minimum means each placement is a full quarter's commitment, not a short add-on alongside coursework.

The Ignite program recruits at the freshman and sophomore level, an earlier entry point than firms that open recruiting to juniors and above; and internships run year-round with a 12-week minimum rather than only across summer. NVIDIA also states that its interns are employees working on real projects, and it runs a dedicated PhD research track tied to teams that publish at major conferences. For an applicant deciding where to spend a limited number of applications, the early-entry and year-round structure means NVIDIA becomes reachable a year or two before most competitors begin recruiting.
