Job Description Summary:
This 10-week paid internship program runs from June 8 – August 13, 2027. It offers an opportunity to expand knowledge of corporate strategy, business development, and project management. Interns will support the Corporate Strategy team on diverse, strategic projects, which may involve Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and business development strategy, financial analysis, and/or sourcing merger targets. This role provides practical experience in a dynamic environment, with Focus emphasizing training and a history of promoting from within.
The program combines meaningful work experience with onboarding, training, mentorship, executive speaker sessions, firmwide networking, and community engagement opportunities. Performance is reviewed formally, and successful interns receive priority consideration for a full-time Analyst, Corporate Strategy role based on performance and business needs.
Interns in this position will work on-site 4-5 days per week.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide general corporate strategy support, including financial analysis and presentation development.
- Support business development, including sourcing strategies with wealth and business management firms.
- Assist the business development team’s outreach efforts through various lead generation channels and deal pipeline management.
- Collaborate with team members to review and analyze financial data from prospects, developing financial proposals for merger opportunities.
- Participate in market research analysis to refine business development strategies for improved M&A outcomes.
- Coordinate meetings and support other team projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Current students pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field.
- Expected graduation date between December 2027 and Spring 2028.
- Must successfully complete video interview + assessments within 5 days of receiving the link.
- Ability to work and commute from Focus’ New York City office; no relocation assistance is provided.
- Candidates must have permanent authorization to work in the U.S.
- Demonstrated track record of academic success and/or professional pursuits.
- High degree of personal and professional maturity.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Intellectual curiosity and confidence to take initiative.
- Exceptional work ethic and a deep sense of accountability.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Interest in the wealth management industry.
This position is a non-exempt role. The expected base pay for this role is $22/hr. Actual base pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, subject matter expertise, geographic location where work will be performed, and the applicant’s skill set. The job title is subject to change based on the selected candidate’s experience and education.
