Fab Engineer

As a Fab Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc., you will work with process and equipment engineers responsible for starting up, developing, and optimizing processes to improve product quality and reliability. Your responsibilities include driving process yield improvement, cost reduction, productivity improvement, and risk management, as well as resolving manufacturing line problems.

This position requires identifying, diagnosing, and resolving process-related problems by applying failure analysis, FMEA, 8D, or SPC methodology. Additional duties include coordinating and executing process, equipment, and material evaluations/optimizations to implement changes at process steps, leading yield improvement and cost reduction activities, managing new process baseline qualifications, and liaising with material suppliers to meet quality, cost, and risk objectives.

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Responsible for new product startup and sustaining high volume product yield/product grade improvement.
  • Lead Yield/Product Grade enhancement, including monitoring performance against plan and driving improvement.
  • Perform data analysis using statistical tools, summarizing, presenting, and publishing data/results to all associated groups.
  • Design and execute Design of Experiments (DOE) to drive improvement activities.
  • Drive taskforce meetings to mitigate yield loss and generate a roadmap for continuous improvement processes with cross-functional teams.
  • Communicate effectively with key stakeholders, proposing strategies and making data-driven decisions.
  • Collaborate with the wafer fab process/integration group to address process-related defects affecting product yield.
  • Collaborate with FAB/MH/PE/PYE, etc., to resolve process, device, and test-related issues.
  • Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights into daily work to improve efficiency, quality, or effectiveness, while exercising sound judgment and complying with organizational standards and legal requirements.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, testing, and sharing AI-enabled enhancements within scope of work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Microelectronic/Material Science/Data Science/Physics/Mathematics/Statistics.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in the Semiconductor Industry.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with all levels.
  • Proven ability in managing complex, multi-tasking projects and driving them to completion.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to build strong peer relationships.
  • Experience in yield analysis/EFA is an added advantage.
  • Good understanding of CMOS device physics is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of NAND device operations is an added advantage.
  • Understanding of probe test flow & test methodology, including array operation, customer features, and specifications is an added advantage.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours that overlap with different time zones if necessary.
  • Interest in and knowledge of the semiconductor industry and Micron is preferred.
  • Ability to apply baseline digital fluency and role-appropriate AI literacy to use AI-enabled tools responsibly and effectively for research, analysis, content creation, problem-solving, operational tasks, and achieving business outcomes.
