Summary of Role

This role is intended for our Malta, NY Fab 8 site, a 300mm leading-edge semiconductor manufacturing facility. As a Maintenance Technician intern, you will monitor, sustain, and improve equipment and/or processes in the assigned area, working in partnership with production team members and area engineers. Maintenance Technicians monitor equipment performance, schedule and perform preventative and corrective maintenance on assigned tool sets, and use mechanical, electronic, and PC/software skills to troubleshoot and resolve equipment-related issues. Concise communication of updates on the status of equipment and area to the Lead Tech and/or Engineer is essential.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance activities on state-of-the-art 300mm semiconductor equipment by following detailed instructions and procedures.
  • Work with various hand tools and measurement devices.
  • Respond to error messages of factory systems and equipment.
  • Review Statistical Process Control charts for process quality and react to Out of Control conditions, including defect troubleshooting.
  • Perform visual inspections (quality checks).
  • Recover from process and tool interruptions.
  • Complete all required reporting and documentation.
  • Understand and follow health, safety, and environmental procedures and requirements.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement processes, learning, and skills development.
  • Be a strong team member and able to work well with a global team.
  • Perform measurements to characterize the chemical, physical, and biological properties of materials.
  • Process wafers using defined procedures.
  • Use standard software applications (MS Office) and specific programs (Xsite, SiView, SPACE, etc.) to create reports and document procedures.

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Education/Experience – Currently enrolled in a 2-year associate degree program in one of the following or related disciplines:
    • Advanced Manufacturing
    • Aviation/Aircraft
    • Automotive or Diesel Technology
    • Electrical Engineering Technology
    • Engineering Science
    • Facilities Maintenance & Industrial Technology
    • Electrical Construction and Maintenance
    • Computer Sciences
    • Computer Information Technology
    • Mechatronics or Mechanical Technology
    • Heavy Equipment Technology
    • HVAC
    • Engineering Science Technology
    • Wind Energy & Turbine Technology
    • Or other related degree disciplines
  • In progress of the first year of the degree or nearly completed.
  • Strong academic standing.
  • Able to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Language Fluency: English (written and verbal).
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts.
  • Able to work in a cleanroom environment wearing required cleanroom attire per semiconductor protocol/requirements.
  • Able to lift equipment and tools; for objects greater than 50 lbs, a two-person lift is required.
  • Perform semi-skilled and unskilled labor duties related to maintenance and repair of semiconductor equipment using hand tools.

Alternating Week Shift Schedules

  • A (days) Week 1: Sunday to Wednesday, 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM; Week 2: Sunday to Tuesday, 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM.
  • C (days) Week 1: Thursday to Saturday, 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM; Week 2: Wednesday to Saturday, 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM.
