Permanent Control Coordinator

Overview

Within the Asia Pacific CIB IT & Operations organization, the Regional OPC (Operational Permanent Control) team for Global Banking Operations operates under the management of the Head of Conduct & Controls and works closely with the Operations teams. The main responsibility is to implement the operational risk management framework and monitor operational risk related to Global Banking Operations across all 12 territories in APAC. This includes analyzing control results (Ops, OPC, LoD2, LoD3) and incidents to identify operational risks and follow the associated mitigation/remediation actions, including recommendations.

What would be your typical day at BNPP Paribas look like?

In day-to-day work, you will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing business processes to minimize operational risk and drive continuous improvement. This includes working cross-functionally with internal teams (Trade, Cash, Supply Chain & Credit Operations) to align processes and business objectives. Through your tasks, you will play a key role in ensuring operational efficiency, risk management, and process control within APAC Global Banking Operations (GBO) OPC team.

Primary Role & Responsibilities

• Coordinate and perform the Risk and Control Self-Assessment with Operations Managers and Senior Management.
• Define and execute control testing, present control results to Senior Management, and ensure the implementation of remediation actions.
• Provide support with harmonizing the execution of C5 controls across all 12 Territories in APAC.
• Support Operations teams in the implementation and deployment of C1-C4 controls.
• Follow up and review findings and recommendations issued by internal auditors, regulators, and external auditors.
• Ensure operational risk incidents are properly collected, coordinate root cause analysis, and contribute to the definition of remedial actions.
• Perform deep-dive analyses/thematic reviews on specific processes based on identified risk areas.
• Monitor regulations and internal policy changes to ensure implementation by Operations Team.

Operational Risk Governance

• Organize and contribute to team meetings and APAC CBO PCC to ensure proper escalation of operational risk issues.
• Coordinate and prepare contributions to various committees (e.g., APAC Operational Risk Management Framework, APAC Internal Control Committees, APAC CCCO, TBA ITO Committee).
• Support Territory OPCs in performing their mandates and consolidate results for management reporting.
• Assist the team manager in transversal tasks such as deep dives, trainings, dashboard production, and proactively suggesting improvements in daily work.

What is required for you to succeed?

Essential Technical Knowledge / Skills

• Knowledge of project management principles.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel (pivot tables and lookup functions).
• Experience in Python or data analytics tools is a plus.
• Knowledge of crisis management and business continuity is a plus.

Qualifications and Experience

• Professional experience gained during an internship or similar role working in Operations or with clients for a Financial Institution.
