Job Description
The Teller I works in a TD Store location and plays a key role in delivering legendary customer experiences while processing everyday banking transactions with accuracy and efficiency, and educating customers on TD's products and services or referring them to a partner for specialized solutions.
Depth & Scope
- Executes TD's brand promise by delivering a Legendary Customer experience in the Store.
- Performs customer transactions including deposits, withdrawals, loan and safe deposit box payments with efficiency.
- Processes cash transactions such as cashing checks, currency verification, balancing cash drawers, and night deposits with high accuracy.
- Responds to and resolves customer inquiries and concerns using standard procedures, escalating to management as necessary.
- Engages in lobby leadership by guiding customer flow, warmly welcoming customers, and directing them appropriately.
- Understands customer banking preferences and educates customers on self-service/digital options that meet their needs.
- Advocates for the customer by conducting needs-based conversations; offering financial and digital solutions, and referring to appropriate partners for solutions.
- Makes sound decisions and provides timely problem resolution; escalates more difficult issues to management as needed.
- Ensures compliance with company guidelines and regulations (e.g., Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act) to minimize risk and protect the customer.
- Verifies customer identities by following authentication policies and procedures.
- Balances cash drawers, ATMs, and Teller Cash Dispensers/Recyclers as necessary.
- Adheres to safe deposit box procedures and guidelines.
- Responsible for cash drawers and vaults, maintaining appropriate cash limits and security.
- Protects confidential customer information and follows dual control requirements.
- Follows security and audit measures to minimize potential loss and uses bank tools to detect and prevent fraud.
- Completes required in-classroom and online training by established due dates.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- 6 months of work-related experience preferred; or equivalent demonstrated through volunteering, education, or military experience.
- Ability to work during operating hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as scheduled.
- Demonstrated customer service skills preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and detail orientation.
- Ability to function in a fast-paced and changing environment.
- Excellent communication skills—concise, clear, and consistent.
