ING in Asia Pacific

In Asia Pacific, ING offers wholesale banking across 11 markets: Australia, China, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam.

ING offers both retail and wholesale banking services in Australia. ING’s regional presence includes a 13% stake in Bank of Beijing, China, and a 30% stake in TMBThanachart Bank in Thailand.

Overall Function

Based in Hong Kong, the intern will work closely with the Financial Institution (FI) team and provide support to promote business relating to the Bank and Non-Bank Financial Institution (NBFI) of ING HK.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist team members in building FI HK client master lists and tracking revenue/business development.
  • Assist with client onboarding and contribute to Client Due Diligence/KYC processes to minimize risk and maintain a sound client portfolio.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders including product teams, credit review, risk, and legal to support client account planning, credit reviews, Green Light Committee processes, and documentation negotiation; prepare Parent Account Manager (PAM) advice under supervision of PAMs, executive briefing notes, management updates, and pitch books.
  • Map out new FI HK opportunities and develop a solid understanding of ING products related to the team portfolio, including FI Lending, FM, Insurance sector financing, Investment Fund Financing, and other strategic initiatives of ING Wholesale Banking.
  • Research banking sector regulation changes and track Non-bank FI developments to keep the team updated.

What qualities and skills are we looking for

We are looking for a passionate individual who meets the following criteria:

Qualification background

  • Current Honors Degree student at a reputable university
  • Interest in financial services
  • Self-motivated and proactive with a high degree of initiative
  • Prior work experience in financial services is advantageous
  • Possess legal right to work in Hong Kong

Competencies

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle pressure and tight deadlines
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and word processing applications
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Chinese
