Role overview

Joining Appian means leading a next-generation presales organization that shapes the future of enterprise automation. You’ll build and scale high-performing teams, drive business outcomes through disciplined execution, and develop the next generation of Appian’s solution consulting leaders.

Position

Associate Solutions Consultant — you will actively participate in the technology evaluation stage of the sales process, working with the sales team as a technical adviser and product expert. Using technical aptitude, creativity, and business acumen, you will demonstrate the value that Appian’s platform provides to customers and prospects. Associate Solutions Consultants assist with sales strategy within target accounts by partnering with internal colleagues to build strong customer relationships.

Location & culture

This role is based at our headquarters in McLean, Virginia. Appian values in-person collaboration as a key driver of our mission. Employees hired for this position are expected to be in the office 4–5 days a week to foster collaboration, celebrate working with exceptional people across Appian, and ensure continued shared success.

Requirements to be successful

  • A passion for technology and its applicability to today’s business challenges
  • A creative approach to solving business problems
  • A self-starter with a positive attitude and exceptional time management skills
  • The desire to assist with tasks like requirements analysis and system design
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to command a room during a presentation
  • Ability to engage and articulate product positioning to both business and technical users in competitive scenarios

Basic qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Information Technology, or a related field
  • Technical depth: Understand customer IT and business landscapes (ERP, CRM, data, workflow, AI, partner solutions)
  • Willingness to travel; 10% travel required to support customer engagement
