Several tracks open simultaneously in autumn for the next summer's cohort, so a candidate considering both Software Engineering and ML or Data Science roles is filing multiple applications across overlapping windows.

Pinterest's Apprenticeship Program is the most visible structural differentiator: a paid, up-to-one-year role across Apprentice Engineer, Product Manager, Product Designer, and Product Researcher tracks, aimed at coding bootcamp grads, self-taught candidates, and people without a related degree, with possible conversion to a full-time role. It explicitly excludes currently enrolled degree students, distinguishing it from the parallel university recruiting tracks which segment further by degree level, with Master's and PhD Machine Learning internships sitting alongside general Software Engineering and Data Science cohorts. For a candidate whose background does not fit the standard CS-degree funnel, the apprenticeship is an eligibility-defined route in rather than an inclusion gesture, and its application package, leaning on collaborative work experience and role-specific skills, is materially different from the university tracks'.
