HPS Investment Partners is a global alternative-credit specialist founded in 2007 within J.P. Morgan Asset Management and made independent in 2016, when its principals bought the firm out to create one of the largest employee-owned managers focused on non-investment-grade credit. It invests across the capital structure through three lines — corporate-focused private credit, asset-based finance, and liquid credit — and reports more than $157 billion in assets under management as of 31 March 2026.
