This role involves managing business across our diverse marine liability, ports, and terminals portfolio while actively supporting business planning and forecasting. ## Key Responsibilities Your key tasks will include: - Underwriting business across the marine liability, ports, and terminals portfolio. - Supporting the business planning and forecasting process. - Monitoring financial exposure within outlined limits. - Monitoring premium income to ensure it remains within set limits. - Maintaining awareness of all advised claims while supporting and providing input on claim settlements. - Ensuring adequate reinsurance coverage is acquired for specific risks. - Building and maintaining strong relationships with brokers and clients. - Supporting the design and structuring of risks. ### Operational Duties Essential responsibilities include: - Reviewing submissions, including applications, policy wording, inspection reports, loss runs, and financial reports, while conducting appropriate research to determine the risk level for each account. - Calculating the appropriate risk premium by considering inherent risk costs, reinsurance cessions, and underwriting/administration costs to ensure profitability. - Proactively advising, assisting, servicing, and following up with clients on insurance and risk management matters to ensure their requirements are met. - Effectively managing relationships to initiate opportunities for cross-selling and ensure account retention. - Controlling the timely implementation of new and renewed accounts according to established quality standards. - Coordinating with internal teams to determine appropriate reinsurance for risk placements on excess of loss and quota share bases. - Reviewing loss control reports and managing policy endorsement requests to process necessary policy changes. _Note: You will report to the Head of Marine Liability & Ports, UK & Lloyd’s._ ## What We Are Looking For We are looking for candidates possessing the following abilities and skills: ### Qualifications and Experience - Strong technical experience and expertise in marine liability and ports underwriting, demonstrating skills reflective of a fully competent practitioner. - Knowledge of the Marine Insurance Industry and Commercial/Business Acumen, preferably with exposure to Lloyd's and Global markets. - Analytical, negotiation, and sales/marketing skills. - Excellent written and oral communication skills. - A strong focus on customer service is mandatory. - Interpersonal Savvy: Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with insured parties and brokers. - Ability to develop and understand business processes, strategy, and planning. - A collaborative team player who provides creative solutions and ideas for resolution. ## About AXA XL AXA XL, the P&C and specialty risk division of AXA, is known for solving complex risks for mid-sized companies, multinationals, and individuals.
