This position supports Retail Excess Casualty business while providing hands-on experience in risk evaluation, pricing, renewals, new business acquisition, and broker relationship management. ## Essential Functions - Support the underwriting and servicing of Retail Excess Casualty business, initially working under the guidance of experienced underwriters and within assigned underwriting authority. - Review new and renewal submissions to evaluate risk acceptability, identify missing information, and determine alignment with company appetite, guidelines, and underwriting standards. - Assist with underwriting analysis and due diligence, including reviewing loss information, exposure details, financial information, policy terms, conditions, and other relevant risk factors. - Develop proficiency in rating and pricing accounts and apply appropriate pricing methodologies in accordance with company guidelines, filings, and applicable regulatory requirements. - Prepare underwriting files, quotes, and account documentation accurately and in accordance with internal and regulatory standards. - Review policy forms, terms, conditions, and endorsement requests with guidance from experienced underwriters. - Support an assigned book of renewal business and progressively assume responsibility for renewals and new business based on experience, demonstrated capability, and assigned authority. - Build relationships with retail brokers and participate in broker and client meetings to support account retention, new business development, and team growth. - Partner with internal teams, including Claims, Risk Engineering, and Marketing, as appropriate, to evaluate risks and support broker and client needs. - Continue developing technical underwriting knowledge, market awareness, and broker relationship skills through hands-on training, coaching, and shadowing. - Perform other duties as assigned. ## Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities. ## Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. ### Education and Experience Required - Bachelor’s degree. - At least one year of insurance experience in underwriting support, insurance operations, or related industry experience (two years preferred). - Demonstrated interest in building a career in underwriting, with strong learning agility and motivation. - Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills. - Excellent written, verbal, and relationship-building skills. - Ability to work from the New York City office four days per week. ### Other Skills and Abilities Required - Excellent organizational and computer skills. - 5% travel required. ## Compensation and Benefits **Salary:** The base pay range is $90,000.00 - $105,000.00.
