We’re looking for Machine Learning Engineer Interns to join our fast-growing engineering team and help develop a 24/7 global infrastructure system that powers DoorDash’s three-sided marketplace of consumers, merchants, and Dashers. ## About the Role As a Machine Learning Engineer Intern at DoorDash, you’ll tackle new challenges in machine learning and artificial intelligence. You’ll conduct research applicable across DoorDash engineering teams, engage in external collaborations and mentoring, and perform research in areas including auction, game theory, recommender systems, ranking, AdTech, computer vision, causal inference, and big data analytics. This is a 12-week summer internship based in our San Francisco, Sunnyvale, New York, or Seattle offices. ## Responsibilities - Apply cutting-edge research in machine learning and artificial intelligence, natural language processing, recommender systems, ranking, computer vision, causal inference, AdTech, and graph analysis to solve real-world problems across discovery, advertising, forecasting, fulfillment, and search experiences at DoorDash. - Contribute to and execute research ideas that can improve the DoorDash product experience. - Collect, analyze, and synthesize data findings to build relevant machine learning models. - Write clean, efficient, and sustainable code. ## Qualifications - Currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Statistics, Information Sciences, or a related field, with graduation expected between Fall 2027 and Summer 2028. - Mastery of at least one systems language, such as Java, C++, Python, Kotlin, or Go, or one machine learning framework, such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or MLflow. - Experience conducting research and solving analytical problems. - Strong communication and teamwork skills. - Passion for applied machine learning and the DoorDash product. - Ideally, experience with publications in machine learning, artificial intelligence, data science, data analytics, statistics, or related technical fields. Applications for this position are accepted on an ongoing basis. ## Compensation The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the applicable pay range and will be determined based on job-related factors, including skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee’s work location, and ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future. In addition to base salary, compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants.
