This risk mitigation covers threats from external actors and instances where individuals exploit their access to Bank assets or premises. **Team Overview** This role sits within the Personnel Security function of the Bank, focusing on protecting the Bank and its people from insider risk and extending this protection beyond the physical buildings. The Protective Security Officer is responsible for providing services that enhance the safety and strength of the Bank, both within and outside its locations. The primary focus is on supporting travel security, access control, and other duties that enhance the personal safety of colleagues. This role requires a highly motivated, analytical, logical, and hands-on Officer with a high level of accuracy and the ability to work effectively under pressure with limited supervision. The Protection Officer must be confident liaising with stakeholders at all levels, capable of working with high discretion, and adept at handling sensitive information. Good analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to react and escalate potential threats appropriately are essential. ## Key Responsibilities The Protection Officer will work closely with other teams across the Security Division and the wider Bank. The successful candidate will be expected not only to maintain the capability of their own areas of responsibility but also to support the wider Personnel Security function to drive improvements. The successful applicant will: - Participate in all Business As Usual (BAU) activities, answering stakeholder queries and liaising with other Security Staff and Security Network technical support. - Accurately create or remove security photo passes, user profiles, and credentials in line with requests, controlling access using C-Cure and Morpho Manager systems. - Provision and cater access cards for new employees using the Systopia system. - Control access to privileged areas upon request from listed authorisers using the c-cure system. - Produce data reports from various systems on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc basis. - Create and maintain team documentation to accurately reflect undertaken activities. - Identify and suggest enhancements in existing processes and technologies. - Carry out System Administrator duties, such as adding/deleting users, and conducting housekeeping on all systems under PACT scope. - Assist internal and external audit and compliance processes with necessary audits and investigations. - Provide Technical Security Administration, including: - C-Cure administration (e.g., creating Door Groups, programming clearances). - Supporting the Executive Protection Manager in delivering Technical Security Sweeps. - Within the travel security function, monitor and respond to basic travel security requests and queries, maintaining accurate information in travel security systems. More complex or high-risk actions are escalated to a senior officer. Expected to support the travel security function generally, including pre- and post-travel and event briefings led by a senior officer. - Monitor the threat inbox, conducting initial investigations and enquiries of referrals, triaging actions, and organizing case conferences based on triage. - Support the review of visitors attending Bank events to identify potential risks using OSINT and internal Bank information. - Support vetting functions by processing Biennial checks and, as the function evolves, managing possible CIFAS and OSINT screening. ## Role Requirements ### Minimum Criteria - Previous and recent experience in a security or investigations role. - Ability to accurately follow security processes, consistently make risk-based security recommendations, and identify when an issue requires escalation. - Strong attention to detail and the ability to process and maintain accurate records. - Ability to respond to stakeholder queries professionally and correctly identify when escalation is necessary. - Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly and work reliably under pressure with limited supervision. ### Essential Criteria - Good analytical and problem-solving skills, focused on identifying relevant information, triaging issues, and appropriately applying operating procedures as a guide rail for next steps. - Ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders and adapt communication approach appropriately. - Ability to prioritize competing tasks, meet deadlines, and escalate issues appropriately. - Proven track record of building effective working relationships with internal teams and external partners. ### Desirable Criteria - Experience using access control, identity management, or security administration systems. - Experience supporting travel security and/or event screening. - Working knowledge of supporting or delivering technical security sweeps, including any relevant technical surveillance counter measures or NACE-accredited qualification. ## Salary and Benefits **Salary Range:** £33,600 - £37,800 In addition to the salary, a comprehensive benefits package is offered: - Currently a non-contributory, career average pension, providing a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/80th of annual salary for every year worked. Options to increase to 1/65th or decrease to 1/105th are available through a flexible benefits program annually.
