Interns receive mentorship from their respective managers and continue to develop skills throughout the summer. The program features development workshops focused on key business concepts. Interns may work within various skills-based tracks, including Business Administration, Information Technology, Actuarial, Human Resources, Analytics & Data, Communications, Finance, Marketing & Sales, Project Management, Clinical Studies, Customer Experience, Digital Operations, and other technical or non-technical degree programs. - This is a paid 10-week summer internship, running from the first Monday in June to the second Friday in August (up to 40 hours per week). - Interns may be placed in either a technical or non-technical area. - Development workshops are provided to facilitate the transition from academia to the corporate environment. - Housing is not provided as part of this program. ## Essential Accountabilities Specific duties will vary by assignment; divisional callouts are provided below: - In supporting the LAMA Team, the intern gains a comprehensive view of the affiliates—MedAmerica and LBS—and their role within the enterprise. Day-to-day tasks include regulatory research, preparation of state filings, maintenance of corporate records, and reviewing/documenting policy and procedure enhancements. Due to MedAmerica operating as a closed block and rapid LBS expansion, this intern will gain firsthand insight into the differing operational methods of these businesses, including perspectives outside of NYS as these affiliates are nationwide. - Works with a mentor and supports key strategic projects. - Completes work assignments based on business needs, departmental priorities, and individual qualifications. - Performs a mix of technical and non-technical tasks across a broad range of business-related projects. - Creates and delivers presentations upon completion of the internship. - Consistently demonstrates high standards of integrity by supporting the Lifetime Healthcare Companies' mission and values, adhering to the Corporate Code of Conduct, and embodying the Lifetime Way values and beliefs. - Maintains confidentiality and protects member privacy in accordance with company policies. - Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required. - Performs other functions assigned by management. ## Minimum Qualifications ### Education and Experience - Desired Majors/Degree Programs include: Social Sciences (e.g., Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Law/Pre-Law, etc.) or similar programs. - High School diploma along with proof of continuous college enrollment (enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program). - Must be in good academic standing. ### Skills and Abilities - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with technical and non-technical audiences and interface with staff at all company levels. - Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail, adapting to changing environments, and delivering high-quality work product. - Ability to work well in a team and establish positive working relationships with peers. - Demonstrates strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and prioritization skills. - Possesses a proactive approach to work, displaying creativity and flexibility in completing assigned tasks. - Demonstrates a commitment to the continuous improvement of skills and team functioning. - Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as within intra- and inter-departmental teams as needed. - Experience with Microsoft Office Suite. - Experience using a desktop computer in a professional environment. ### Preferred Qualifications (Not Required) - Attention to detail is essential, along with strong research and reading comprehension skills. - Ability to function effectively under pressure with fast-approaching deadlines. ## Physical Requirements - Ability to work while sitting and/or standing at a workstation, viewing a computer, and using a keyboard, mouse, and/or phone for three (3) or more hours at a time. - Ability to travel across the Health Plan service region for meetings and/or training courses as needed. Actual salary will vary depending on factors including, but not limited to, available budget, prior experience, knowledge, skill, and education as they pertain to the minimum qualifications, in addition to internal equity.
