Want to spend six weeks building experience that could take your career further? Our Summer Internship gives you the chance to learn by doing, work with clients, and build experience alongside people who will support you. BDO is the largest organisation in the UK mid-market and the only one above £1bn in revenue, with 8,000 people across the UK. This provides you with the scale, expertise, and breadth of opportunity of a major professional services organisation, combined with the personal support and close relationships that make BDO exceptional. The programme commences on Monday, July 5th, with an organisation-wide induction in Coventry (fully paid for). During this one-week induction, you will gain an introduction to BDO, our values, and our service lines. You will then be based in the office you applied to for the remainder of the programme. Commitment to the full six-week duration is required. ## About Audit In Audit, you will gain an insight into how different organisations operate and the critical role Audit plays in providing trusted financial information to businesses and their stakeholders. BDO’s Audit teams cover specialist areas, including Pension Audit, Public Sector, Not-for-Profit, Financial Services, and Technology Risk Assurance. During your internship, you will gain hands-on experience working with clients while learning how our teams assess risks, challenge judgments, and understand the systems that underpin financial statements. With BDO managing over 400 of the UK’s 6,000 pension schemes, you will be exposed to work at significant scale across various sectors. You will not be observing from the sidelines. You will have opportunities to contribute to live work, learn directly from experienced colleagues, and begin building your problem-solving, commercial, and relationship skills. This is big experience with personal support. Moreover, successful interns may be offered the opportunity to return after graduation and join the team they already know, providing a direct pathway into the BDO graduate programme. ## About the Programme Throughout your internship, you will explore our business areas, learn about professional qualifications, and participate in workshops focused on our values, culture, and wellbeing. You will then apply this learning by working alongside experienced colleagues and fellow interns. It is an opportunity to try new things, build your confidence, and get a genuine feel for working at BDO, supported by colleagues ready to answer questions and help you maximize your experience. ## About You We are looking for someone who is inquisitive, adaptable, and ready to learn. You enjoy solving problems, collaborating with others, and embracing new challenges. You do not need to arrive knowing everything about Audit. Bring your curiosity and willingness to engage, and we will provide the opportunities to build your skills, confidence, and experience from there. Join us in one of the following hubs: Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Nottingham, Reading, or Southampton. Note: Applicants must live within a commutable distance of the chosen office. Relocation support is not provided, so please consider this carefully before applying. Time spent in person—whether at the office or with clients—is essential for learning, relationship building, and maximizing your internship. ## Eligibility Requirements To apply, you must meet the following criteria: - Be a second-year student on a four-year undergraduate degree, seeking a third-year work placement. - Hold a minimum 2:2 degree in any discipline (obtained or predicted). - Hold three A-levels or equivalent at grades A*-C (excluding General Studies and Extended Projects) or four Scottish Advanced Highers at grade A-B. Please note: we do not use UCAS points. Evidence will be requested if you are successful. - Hold GCSEs at grade 4 and above in Maths and English, or Scottish National 5 grade A-C. Evidence will be requested if you are successful. - Possess the right to work in the UK. ## Interview Process Here is the typical process you can expect: - Online application form. - Online assessments. - Video interview. - Virtual assessment centre and interview.
