The Actuarial Internship at Sun Life Hong Kong is a 6-month full-time placement designed for students looking to explore a career as an Actuary in Hong Kong. Participants will gain hands-on experience across various actuarial tasks and receive deep exposure to the operations of a leading global insurance firm. Over the 6-month term, students will be matched to a top-performing team and supported by experienced colleagues and managers throughout their development journey.

## Key Responsibilities

Following team allocation, interns will gain hands-on experience in key actuarial tasks, which may include, but are not limited to:

    
- Preparing special quotes, illustrations, and regular statistical returns and reports.
    
- Participating in the product development and implementation process, including experience study, market comparison, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
    
- Maintaining customer databases and preparing related statistics.
    
- Supporting actuarial valuation modeling work.
    
- Supporting annual experience studies.
    
- Assisting with the preparation of reinsurance reporting and the monthly valuation process.
    
- Supporting quarterly and monthly reports to monitor Asset Liability Management (ALM) related risks (including interest rate, equity, currency, and liquidity risks).
    
- Assisting in the analysis of ALM strategies for operating and surplus segments to optimize risk-return trade-offs.

## Job Requirements

    
- Currently a Year 2 – 4 student in Actuarial Studies or other quantitative subjects (such as Statistics, Data Science, Risk Management, etc.).
    
- Some progress in the SOA Actuarial examination or equivalent is beneficial, but not required.
    
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and FoxPro.
    
- Programming skills and knowledge of GGY AXIS will be an advantage.
    
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
