## Position Summary

KPMG is currently seeking a Tax Intern to join our KPMG Tax practice.

## Responsibilities

  
- Perform tax-related tasks, including compliance, advising, and planning, for clients across a variety of industries, including multistate and multinational enterprises, partnerships, corporations, and S corporations.
  
- Participate in data analytics assignments using KPMG technology; create tax return workpapers and tax returns; and coordinate offshore resources.
  
- Perform tax due diligence to identify tax exposures and opportunities.
  
- Assist multistate companies with state and local tax issues, including compliance, advising, planning, and controversies.
  
- Help advise multinational enterprises on business decisions, such as where to locate and operate, choice of entity, supply chain optimization, and accessing and mobilizing capital to fund global operations.
  
- Help clients anticipate and understand the potential short- and long-term considerations of tax planning decisions while evaluating multinational tax risk profiles, global effective tax rates, and cash positions.
  
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team on assignments and maintain excellent client relationships.
  
- Build capabilities in key technologies that enable tax professionals to deliver client services, including artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, and Power BI.

## Qualifications

  
- Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in business, accounting, finance, taxation, mathematics, economics, information technology, data and analytics, engineering (financial, industrial, or systems), or an equivalent program.
  
- Preferred areas of study include accounting and taxation.
  
- Must be pursuing the educational requirements for CPA licensure in the principal place of business—the state in which the office is located—for this position, including completion of the academic credits required before starting as a Tax Associate.
  
- Upon completion of the internship, candidates must have additional academic credits remaining to complete their degree and/or CPA eligibility requirements.
  
- Completion of at least one college-level accounting course is required at the time of application.
  
- Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
  
- Coursework or a minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data and analytics is preferred.
  
- Strong technical, business acumen, critical-thinking, and agility skills, with the ability to excel and drive strategic outcomes in a dynamic, evolving environment.
  
- Professional demeanor and a collaborative leadership approach.
  
- Demonstrated quality-service mindset and strong technical aptitude, with the ability to learn and navigate technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, Power BI, and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
  
- Ability to apply emerging technologies to enhance tax processes and insights.
  
- Excellent communication, time-management, and leadership skills; a feedback-oriented approach; and resourcefulness in delivering high-quality work.
  
- Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance of the office and be able to travel to reasonably commutable work locations using personal transportation or public transportation.
  
- Ability to travel to and/or work on-site at client premises as needed, sometimes with relatively short notice.
  
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future. ## Salary Information

Salary offers are determined based on relevant factors, including skills, job responsibilities, prior relevant experience, degrees and certifications, and market considerations.

California salary range: $80,000–$100,000

Salary ranges by city outside California are available at KPMG Pay Transparency.
