This position supports Ankura’s Risk, Forensics & Compliance Business Group, one of five practices focused on client delivery services across the firm.

## Role Overview

Ankura’s Forensics practice provides expertise in investigations, accounting advisory, litigation, arbitration, and disputes, including:

  
- Forensic accounting and financial investigations
  
- Accounting, fraud, and independent fact-finding investigations
  
- Ponzi schemes, whistleblower, embezzlement, and kickback matters
  
- Forensic accounting and reconstruction of books and records
  
- Purchase price disputes
  
- Commercial litigation
  
- Damages analysis
  
- Expert services

## Responsibilities

Ankura’s Summer Internship Program gives students the opportunity to learn what it is like to work as a consultant in the Forensics practice. Interns are expected to function like full-time Associates, becoming familiar with clients’ overall objectives and challenges, as well as the nuances of their financial and accounting books and records.

Interns will work closely with professionals at all levels, from Associates through Senior Managing Directors, gaining firsthand experience in consulting and advisory services. They will perform accounting-related analyses and communicate results to internal project leads.

Responsibilities include:

  
- Apply accounting, financial, and analytical skills to client issues, including detailed analyses of transactional data, books and records, and financial statements; tracing the flow of funds; calculating damages in complex disputes; and reviewing revenue recognition procedures.
  
- Assist with the design and implementation of analyses, investigations, and project-specific work plans.
  
- Develop and perform analyses to assess complex fact patterns and prepare reports and schedules summarizing findings for review by senior colleagues and clients.
  
- Document and maintain detailed workpapers reflecting the assumptions, information sources, methodologies, and procedures underlying analytical tasks.
  
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality work products and deliverables within established time frames and budgets.
  
- Perform day-to-day client engagement activities, including interacting with internal Ankura team members and other stakeholders and developing productive working relationships with colleagues and clients.
  
- Contribute to the firm’s overall success by participating in pitches, proposals, internal and external networking events, marketing activities, and corporate social responsibility events.

## Requirements

An ideal intern candidate will have an interest in forensic accounting, investigations, litigation consulting, and related areas. Interns will apply technical accounting, forensic accounting, and analytical skills to various client situations while working collaboratively on small, diverse teams.

  
- Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting. Candidates studying finance or other related fields may also be considered. Expected graduation must be between December 2027 and June 2028.
  
- Interest in pursuing a CPA license upon graduation and completion of state requirements.
  
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues.
  
- Strong team-oriented qualities, including being hard-working, thoughtful, collaborative, positive, and confident.
  
- Excellent verbal and written communication, computer, and organizational skills, along with strong quantitative, qualitative, analytical, mathematical, and research skills.
  
- Ability to adapt quickly while handling multiple evolving tasks or engagements and reprioritized deadlines in a changing environment.
  
- Highly motivated, eager to learn, willing to travel as needed, and able to motivate others.
  
- Technical accounting, financial, and economic knowledge, including familiarity with the application of SEC rules, regulations, and disclosures.
  
- Understanding of and experience with the application or research of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP) and/or generally accepted auditing standards (GAAS).
  
- Proficiency in PC environments and related software, including Microsoft Office applications, with advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  
- Permanent authorization to work in the United States is required. Internships and full-time University Associate roles are not eligible for U.S. immigration sponsorship, work visas, or other temporary work authorization, including OPT and CPT.

## Compensation

The estimated pay rate for this internship is $34 per hour.
