The Equities investment department is responsible for all retail and institutional funds managed by Fidelity International, including managing equity portfolios in accordance with the stated investment objectives in the fund’s prospectus, trust document, or Investment Management Agreement (IMA). The research department provides analysis on companies, stocks, and sectors, working closely with fund managers to select stocks for their portfolios. ## What You’ll Be Doing We don’t expect you to arrive knowing everything about what we do. As an intern, we’ll help you get the most out of your time with us—whether you’re early in your learning journey or refining your interests in investing. - Work independently while contributing to the wider investment team. - Develop deep analytical thinking skills to support recommendations on behalf of clients and Fidelity. - Research individual stocks and present your findings to a panel of senior investors. - Be given a set of stocks to research independently. - Be mentored by a Director of Research and learn from Portfolio Managers, with the freedom to share your judgement on whether stocks should be bought or sold. - Understand the importance of resilience when markets are challenging, using it as a learning opportunity. - Have the opportunity to be considered for the Graduate Programme, subject to performance and business requirements. ## The Difference You’ll Make - Research and analyse company products, services, strategies, competitive advantages, and financial data. - Assess current and future competitive positions and investigate management team competency to determine investment value. - Build financial models (profit and loss, cash flow, and balance sheet) to identify share price drivers, forecast earnings, and estimate intrinsic value quickly and accurately. - Compile your analysis into concise research reports and recommend companies that should be owned within client funds to Portfolio Managers. ## How You’ll Be Supported - Start with a welcome and orientation, meeting fellow interns and learning about our work. - Learn daily through experts around you and real projects. - Be supported every step of the way by an assigned buddy and the wider team, including Portfolio Managers. - Attend a company-wide Fidelity Induction in your first week and technical training in your second week. - Participate in bitesize learning sessions throughout the programme. - Join weekly virtual drop-in sessions with the Early Careers team to ask questions and receive support during the programme. ## What We’re Looking For It’s who you are that matters here, rather than what you studied. - Highly driven with intellectual curiosity, ambition, resilience, and strong comfort with numeracy. - An absolute commitment to serving the best interests of our clients. - Intellectual curiosity with the ability to collect and analyse information, then use it to make judgements on industry prospects. - Strong analytical skills to conduct complex research, interpret data, evaluate differing viewpoints, and form insights essential for wise investment decisions. - Confidence and tenacity to communicate and justify your judgement on whether shares should be bought or sold (even with imperfect information). - Open to all degree disciplines and academic achievements. - Ability to speak English. **Eligibility:** You will need to be in the penultimate year of your degree, graduating in 2028, and available to complete 10 weeks of full-time work this coming summer (Bachelor’s or Master’s).
