You will build scalable tools the organization needs to explore data’s possibilities and act on findings—mining the past and attempting to predict the future. As a Two Sigma engineer, you will champion a rigorous, collaborative, scientific approach to meet business needs. You will join a forward-looking organization to build software that scales with the company. ## Internship Program The summer internship program lasts 10 weeks and takes place at our Soho-based New York City office. You will partner with an assigned mentor and work on a single project that culminates in a final presentation. You will be able to attend all Two Sigma events, from brown bag lunches to our ongoing series of guest speakers. We host intern-specific social events to help you get to know other Two Sigma employees and explore all that surrounding New York City has to offer. As a student, you will be hired into a general Software Engineering role and matched to a specific team 2–3 months before you start. ## Responsibilities - Build underlying infrastructure used across engineering teams, including distributed storage and public and private cloud environments. - Ensure the reliability of mission-critical products and systems vital to Two Sigma, such as the main trading system. - Use open source and proprietary tools to build environments that test and deploy quantitative strategies (models). - Build and maintain low-latency, high-performance infrastructure and systems responsible for executing trades. - Build and scale infrastructure used to ingest data from 10,000+ sources daily. - Partner with Corporate teams to develop tools, systems, and products that increase productivity and efficiency across the organization. ## Qualifications - Coursework toward a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in a technical or quantitative field. - Experience with Java, C, C++, Python, Ruby, Perl, or other languages targeting the JVM. - Experience in large-scale systems. - Exceptional programming skills. - Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills. - Passion for building quality software. - Financial experience is not required. ## Benefits - **Perks:** Onsite gyms with laundry service, wellness activities, casual dress, snacks, game rooms - **Hybrid Work Policy:** Flexible in-office days with a budget for a home office setup ## Compensation The weekly base pay for this role will be between $3,800/week (Bachelor’s), $3,900/week (Master’s), and $4,200/week (PhD), based on the academic degree conferred.
