## Role details

## Data Centre Engineer (Proximity Services) — Permanent

JLL is shaping the future of real estate by combining world-class services, advisory, and technology for its clients. This is a permanent role to support Data Centre Operations for Proximity Services, based in Croydon, delivering service to the best possible standard for infrastructure and processes managed within the data centre.

The Data Centre Engineer will provide technical assistance and overall support to customers with 24/7/365 cover through a 12-hour shift pattern across days and nights (06:00 to 18:00 and 18:00 to 06:00).

## Responsibilities

  
- Support customers with 24/7/365 technical assistance and overall service coverage within the data centre.
  
- Install racks and house network and computer equipment.
  
- Manage and implement required installations, including shelves, power strips, rails, cable management, and customer IT equipment.
  
- Identify issues with hardware or cabling, including replacing internal components and performing testing, tracing, and labelling of cabling.
  
- Liaise with global counterparts within the company and third parties regarding hardware-related issues and processes.
  
- Maintain standards of tidiness, cleanliness, security, asset information, and installation standards within computer suites.

## Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

  
- Computer engineering experience and knowledge to achieve optimum methods of working.
  
- Cabling experience and knowledge to achieve optimum methods of working.
  
- Installation experience with rack-mount kit (HP and Cisco, Dell, Arista, Synergy 1200).
  
- Hardware maintenance experience, including swapping failed customer-replaceable parts such as cache battery, HDD, and power supply.
  
- Highly motivated with a positive, proactive attitude.
  
- Willingness to improve operational efficiency through innovation, process, and procedures, adopting and adapting best practices.
  
- Ability to act rapidly and logically under pressure, and to make effective use of others to resolve problems.
  
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  
- Good written and verbal communication skills (English).
  
- Good working knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  
- Excellent team skills, with the ability to listen and contribute to discussions and meetings.
  
- Customer and service focused, with determination to meet customer needs.
  
- Flexible.

- ITIL accreditation
  
- ServiceNow
