We’re looking for software engineers who want to solve meaningful technical problems, contribute to systems at scale, and help shape what we build next. We work in an agile environment with two-week sprints and regular demos that keep teams aligned and give engineers clear visibility into the impact of their work. From day one, you’ll contribute directly to the codebase and collaborate with experienced engineers from a wide range of leading universities and technology companies. We are looking for an engineer to join **Team Hedwig**, which owns and maintains shared systems and architecture across our customer platform. The team builds systems that enable Yext to seamlessly integrate data and experiences across our products. One of the most visible examples is our Action Center, a single destination in the platform that helps customers leverage AI and complete the tasks they need to get the most value from their Yext account. Because Hedwig’s systems sit in front of many Yext products, engineers on the team work on high-traffic, broadly shared infrastructure. This gives engineers excellent opportunities to build reliable systems with reusable interfaces and to learn how to design systems that can degrade gracefully when unexpected failures occur. This role is based in our New York City office, where in-person collaboration plays an important part in how our teams work, learn, and build relationships. We’re looking for people who genuinely value that environment and are comfortable coming into the office at least three days per week. We don’t prescribe specific in-office days and want employees to have the flexibility to handle personal needs without disrupting their work or team collaboration. ## What You’ll Do - Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from design and implementation through testing, deployment, and ongoing operation - Contribute to the design, implementation, and deployment of highly scalable and reliable systems - Develop storage systems, libraries, and frameworks - Proactively contribute ideas for new features and identify opportunities to improve our products, systems, and engineering practices - Collaborate effectively with colleagues across engineering and with partners throughout the company - Write clean, tested, and well-documented code - Use AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully to accelerate engineering work, explore solutions, improve code quality, and reduce repetitive tasks - Critically evaluate, test, and validate AI-generated output rather than treating it as inherently correct - Maintain ownership of all work produced with AI assistance, including its correctness, security, maintainability, and alignment with our engineering standards ## What You Have - A BA/BS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent college-level education - 1+ years of professional software engineering experience - A strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and software design - Fluency with Java, C++, Python, or a similar programming language (we code primarily in Java and Go) - Openness to new technologies, new ways of working, and creative solutions - Comfort working in a fast-paced environment - The ability to evaluate technical solutions critically, including code and recommendations produced by AI tools - Experience using—or a demonstrated interest in learning—AI-assisted development tools as part of a responsible engineering workflow - Sound judgment regarding data privacy, intellectual property, security, and the appropriate use of confidential information when working with AI tools ## Pay **Annual Base Pay Range:** $111,600 — $229,000 USD Pay ranges are established based on an analysis of salaries for positions with a similar level of accountability and impact in the relevant labor market. Salary levels are expected to change to reflect an employee’s job performance (results and impact) over time. Salaries at the time of hire are typically offered in the lower to middle of the above-referenced range to provide the opportunity to reflect performance-based increases over time. In addition to base salaries, employees at Yext are typically eligible for a comprehensive package of benefits including medical, dental and vision benefits; life insurance; short-term and long-term disability; 401(k) retirement plan; and vacation and sick leave.
