Personal Bankers engage clients in deeper conversations to uncover needs and provide guidance and solutions to support clients' financial wellness in person and through proactive calling efforts. As part of the branch team, the Personal Banker works to attract new clients to Key and to develop and expand relationships with existing clients based on their unique financial goals, building client confidence in their finances. This role is client-first, sales-driven, self-motivated, and competitive. Strong teamwork, polished communication, and confidence are critical. ## Essential Functions - Embodies a strong client experience culture by being present with every client and teammate and understanding the impact of interactions personally, professionally, and financially. - Listens for clues to identify financial wellness opportunities during in-person and phone client conversations, and provides effective, customized recommendations. - Consistently attains individual activity, behavior, and outcome goals and expectations. - Opens personal and business accounts (consumer checking, small business, various deposit products, home equity, unsecured lending, certificates of deposit, etc.). - Builds strong partnerships with branch teammates and line of business partners by focusing on client acquisition and deepening relationships with current clients; effectively manages internal and external centers of influence. - Ensures compliance with operational, risk, security, and audit procedures and policies, including appropriate documentation of client interactions. - Supports branch operations, including assisting with client transactions on the Teller line as needed. - Participates in, and occasionally facilitates, in-person morning huddles and end-of-day debriefs. - Works Saturdays as directed by management. - Performs other duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities, and/or activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice. - Complies with all KeyBank policies and procedures, including acting professionally, conducting business ethically, avoiding conflicts of interest, and acting in the best interests of KeyBank's clients. ## Education - High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent business experience (required) - Bachelor's Degree (preferred) ## Work Experience - Minimum of 1 year of experience developing current and new customer relationships, achieving sales goals, and building referral sources; sales experience is more important than financial services experience (required). - Understanding of consumer credit, including loan-to-value, debt-to-income, and credit reports (required). - Foundational knowledge of sales and service techniques with clients, including tele-consulting, outside calling, prospecting, and networking (required). - Comfort interacting with small business clients, overcoming objections, and asking fact-finding questions to be helpful (preferred). - Demonstrated experience influencing business partners and leveraging centers of influence, including working with partners such as Key Investment Services, Mortgage, and Business Banking sales professionals (required). - Working knowledge of PCs (MS Windows and Office products including Word, Excel, etc.) (required). - Working knowledge of digital technology (mobile, apps, web-based browsing) and the ability to educate clients on digital platforms and capabilities within Key (required). ## Licenses and Certifications - Notary License (preferred) ## Skills - Knowledgeable about the client's accounts and business with the bank and uses sound judgment with clients and transactions. - Demonstrated ability to attain sales and referral goals through preset appointments and quality conversations that lead to recommendations aligned to clients' financial wellness goals; leverages system-generated lead lists, walk-ins, and professional contacts. - Strong work ethic and high level of integrity. - Excellent time management skills. - Builds and nurtures client relationships by identifying potential clients, engaging to understand needs, and developing strategies to convert them into long-term clients; deepens relationships with existing clients by offering additional products and services that meet evolving needs. - Attentive to client needs, resolves issues promptly, and ensures a positive banking experience; strong client service builds trust and encourages clients to continue banking with KeyBank. - Ability to evaluate financial information to understand clients' financial health, identify investment opportunities, and recommend strategies. - Understanding and managing risks associated with banking operations and client transactions. - Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills to understand clients' needs and recommend appropriate banking products and services. - Accurate and efficient handling of cash transactions. ## Core Competencies - All KeyBank employees are expected to demonstrate Key's Values and abide by Key's Code of Conduct. ## Physical Demands - Consumer Retail: prolonged standing (5–8 hours per day), frequent use of hands to manipulate/grasp objects, ability to communicate face to face and on the phone with clients, occasional bending and lifting from floor height, frequent forward reach, frequent lifting of 1–10 lbs., occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs. ## Driving Requirements - Ability to routinely and frequently operate a motor vehicle with a valid driver's license. ## Work Location Category - Branch ## Compensation and Benefits This position is eligible to earn a base hourly rate in the range of $20.67–$31.25 per hour. Placement within the pay range may differ based on factors including skills, experience, and geographic location. Compensation for this role also includes incentive compensation, which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
