## Underwriting Assistant

**Reporting to:** Underwriting Manager

**Location:** City of London

**Position type:** Permanent, 35 hours per week

**Hybrid:** 4 days in the office, 1 day working from home. Being in the office 5 days per week is required at least until probation has been passed.

## Overview

## The Role

This role provides full administrative support to the Professional Risks Underwriting Team.

## Key Responsibilities

  
- Full administration of FastTrack renewals, including liaising with brokers to secure instructions and completing final processing of the business.
  
- Handling Mid Term Adjustments, including changes of address, changes of name, and increased indemnity limits.
  
- Producing a variety of reports for management.
  
- Providing day-to-day support to the underwriting team with incoming telephone queries and referring matters to the appropriate underwriter when necessary.
  
- Dealing with and resolving accounting queries, including direct debit queries.
  
- Processing new business orders on behalf of underwriters.
  
- Administering the renewal process, including chasing outstanding renewals.
  
- Attending underwriting meetings and taking minutes as required.
  
- Undertaking other ad hoc activities and project work as required.

## Skills and Experience

### Essential

  
- Experience working in an office environment.
  
- Understanding of the Insurance industry.
  
- Minimum 3 A levels at Grade C or above (or equivalent).
  
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to support broker development and relationship building.
  
- Strong IT literacy.
  
- Excellent organisational skills.

### Desirable

  
- Experience in a similar role (typically 1–2 years).
  
- Working towards insurance qualifications (desirable but not essential).
  
- Professional Indemnity underwriting knowledge (desirable but not essential; commercial SME background acceptable).
