Note: Leave of Absence (LOA) may be required to take on the internship. ## Exchange Operations Roles - Applied Intelligence - Applied Solutions - Derivatives Clearing House - Issuance and Custody - Clearing House (Derivatives) ## Derivatives Clearing House – Brief Overview The Derivatives Clearing House team is responsible for the clearing and settlement operations of SGX Derivatives, ensuring trades are processed accurately, securely, and in compliance with regulatory standards. The team manages the full lifecycle of derivatives transactions—from post-trade management and margining to money settlement and risk mitigation—while optimizing collateral usage and maintaining operational resilience. ### Key Responsibilities - **Product development:** Derivatives products from concepts to life. - **Market management:** Monitor and manage the Derivatives market by leveraging technology and tools. - **Risk management:** Manage counterparty risk through daily cycle mark-to-market, margining, and collateral management. ## Learning Objectives Selected interns will undergo a structured internship program with exposure in the following areas: ### 1) Technical Development (70%) - Singapore’s derivatives market, rules, and processes under the guidance of experienced and passionate mentors. - Tools and technologies for market management (e.g., CW2, Titan OTC, SWIFT). - Derivatives business product knowledge (e.g., negotiated large trades of listed equities, commodities, and foreign exchange derivatives products). - Derivatives clearing processes, systems, rules, and concepts (e.g., daily settlement cycle, margin calls). - Collateral management: learn about different types of collateral (e.g., cash, government securities) and participate in daily collateral movements and reconciliations. - Handling day-to-day exceptions. ### 2) Professional Development (20%) - SGX training. - Stakeholder management. - Presentation. - Process improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and/or risk controls. ### 3) Cross-Function Development (10%) - Cross-function learning. - Strategize offline event planning and execution. ## Job Description Develop Singapore derivatives market infrastructure by: - Ensuring smooth market operations. - Enhancing market management decision-making through in-house data analytics and dashboards. - Automating daily operations processes through VBA, R, and/or Python scripts. ## Knowledge and Skills Requirements - An eye for details - Proactive - Self-motivated and goal oriented - Can-do spirit - Fast learner - Effective team player - Ability to deal with ambiguity - Ability to communicate complex concepts - Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities - Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills - Proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel - Experience in programming (VBA and/or Python) ## Applying to this role This Intern - Clearing Intern (Derivatives) (Spring 2027, Jan to Jun) role at SGX runs through the firm's own careers portal and expects a CV and cover letter written specifically for the posting, not a portable submission carried across firms.
