As an intern, you collaborate with the team to deliver high-quality, client-focused solutions to complex business problems. During the internship, you will participate in **Liftoff with Protiviti**, Protiviti’s award-winning onboarding live-virtual experience with gamification. You will also attend **The Intern Challenge**, an experiential learning course designed to build confidence and help you transition successfully into your role. The internship is designed to immerse you in Protiviti’s unique business and culture. You may work across various industries and engage in internal initiatives. Opportunities may include joining committees, participating in employee network groups, and taking part in social, civic, and networking activities. ### Technology Consulting Internship Areas Technology Consulting interns are hired into one of the following six areas: - **Business Platform Transformation:** Modernizing clients’ technology platforms, including application strategy and development, program execution, and cloud infrastructure—delivering secure, compliant, and sustainable solutions across the end-to-end transformation lifecycle. - **Enterprise Data, Analytics & AI:** Converting internal and external data into insight and action through data engineering, governance, visualization, data sciences, ML, and AI—diagnosing issues, predicting outcomes, and prescribing improvements to business performance. - **Microsoft:** Working closely with Microsoft to maximize the ecosystem partner, drive collaboration productivity, and support modernization initiatives for both business and technology needs, tailoring solutions using Microsoft technologies. - **Security and Privacy:** Strengthening cyber resilience and data protection through risk assessments, technical testing, vulnerability remediation, incident readiness or response, and privacy services—covering emerging technology such as Internet of Things (IoT) penetration testing and quantum computing. - **Technology Risk and Resilience:** Building right-sized enterprise risk and resilience capabilities across business, technology, cyber, and third-party domains—aligning to regulations and leading practices, translating risk into actionable programs, and operationalizing them at scale. - **Technology Strategy and Architecture:** Helping clients understand and improve how they use technology and how technology enables enterprise strategies—delivering integrated advisory and architecture across practices to support enterprise outcomes. ## Meaningful Onboarding Meaningful onboarding, impactful training, and foundational learning define Protiviti’s award-winning internship—an experience designed to build skills and enable you to thrive professionally. ## Qualifications - **Degree:** Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Decision Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, Internet of Things, Applied Math, Machine Learning, Quantum, or other technology majors). - **Visa Status:** Authorization to work in the United States for Protiviti without sponsorship now or in the future. - **Graduation Status:** Must be within one year of final graduation at the time of internship. - Experience solving problems using AI-powered productivity and collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, GenAI). - Advanced verbal and written communication skills. - Ability to apply critical thinking skills and innovation to client engagements across various industries. - Competency working within Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, Teradata, or other major database management systems. - Entry-level proficiency with domain management strategies, network segmentation, firewalls, and middleware tools. - Introductory knowledge of internal control frameworks or IT controls, with experience understanding IT and Business/technology risks. - Familiarity with technology project risks and strategies for managing and mitigating them. - Programming skills such as Python, Java, and JavaScript (preferred). - Knowledge of security-related topics such as authentication, entitlements, identity management, data protection, data leakage prevention, validation checking, encryption, hashing, principle of least privilege, software attack methods, and data storage. - Familiarity with core ERP (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Workday) and system implementation concepts, including business process mapping, technical design documentation, data migration, and testing support. - Ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. - Foundational understanding of cybersecurity, resilience, and risk management frameworks and industry regulation. - Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern customer technology environments. - Strong analytical and data manipulation skills using Excel, Power BI, or similar tools to support reporting and insights. - Ability to synthesize research, develop clear documentation, and communicate findings effectively in team settings. - Experience working with data for AI or automation use cases, including data cleaning and model support. - Ability to apply AI tools to enhance work efficiency, streamline analysis, and improve project delivery. ## How We Work Protiviti practices a hybrid model, combining in-person work with remote work to support excellent work, connection, and collaboration. Work location requirements vary by client, project, team, and other business factors. Our people work in-person at local Protiviti offices and on client sites, which may include local or out-of-state travel based on project and client requests and commitments. Interns do not accrue company paid time off (Choice Time Off).
