## Role details

## About ShopBack

The ShopBack Group is Asia-Pacific’s leading shopping, rewards, and payments platform, serving over 20 million active members across 13 markets. In 2025, the Group continued its global growth with its expansion into North America.

Driven by the vision to make every day more rewarding, ShopBack helps members save money and time while delivering delight every day. The platform also enables merchants and brands to engage their members cost-effectively. Founded in 2014, ShopBack now powers over US$5.5 billion in annual sales for more than 20,000 online and in-store partners, and has rewarded shoppers with more than US$900 million (over S$1 billion) in Cashback to date. Its payment solution, ShopBack Pay, offers a convenient and rewarding payment option at checkout.

## What You’ll Own

- Hands-on work on consumer-facing features, owning workstreams end to end and seeing your decisions reach users.

- Prototype to think: use AI-assisted tools to build working prototypes before specs are written.

- Form a point of view early and build durable solutions that others on the team can run next week.

- Apply an AI-native approach, including agentic workflows—reach for them when a problem hits your desk.

- Account for localisation, edge cases, and interaction detail—not only the happy path.

- Perform quality checks on your own AI output.

- When an AI-assisted feature ships, help raise the quality bar through test cases, scoring criteria, and failure-mode coverage.

- Treat AI output as unverified until tested; do not rely on “it looks right” as a quality check.

- Build systems and workflows (not one-off outputs) and document patterns, components, and decisions in engineer- and AI-tool-consumable formats.

- Conduct research that changes decisions; help run interviews, surveys, and usability tests, then synthesise findings for the team to act on.

- Collaborate daily with product managers, engineers, data, research, marketing, and business leaders across markets.

- Develop a fast-growing regional perspective with dedicated mentorship, including a named manager and regular exposure to senior builders and product leaders.

## Who You Are

- Penultimate or final-year student, or a fresh graduate (any discipline).

- AI Builder: you have demonstrably used AI tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex, or similar) to build agentic workflows, sharpen analysis, and move faster in a work or academic setting.

- Problem-solver: comfortable with ambiguity, solution-centric, and able to identify the real problem.

- Balance craft and product: developing eye for product quality and ability to prototype a consumer experience end to end.

- Accountable reasoning: you can explain why you made each choice, not only what you made.

- Clear communicator with fluent spoken and written English, able to collaborate with stakeholders and teams across markets.

- Self-starter: take initiative, learn fast, and don’t wait to be told what to do.

- Genuine curiosity about tech, startups, digital commerce, or growth businesses.

- Team player who helps make others better.

- Strong ownership mindset: accountable for outcomes, not just tasks.

## Requirements

- Currently pursuing, or recently completed, a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university.

- Available for a full-time 6-month internship based at the Singapore office.

- At least one piece of evidence of something you have built, submitted with your application: a portfolio, a personal project, or a link to a public repository.

- English proficiency, as the role involves daily collaboration with teams across markets.

## How We Work

We operate in an AI-native workflow where prototypes are generated before specs, systems and patterns are kept as machine-readable knowledge layers, and eval sets are built for AI-assisted surfaces. Code is the default medium for incremental changes.

AI output is adversarially evaluated rather than accepted. Eval sets are shared assets, not personal checklists. You will be expected to adopt and model these practices, and we will teach you parts you have not met before.

## ShopBacker Traits

- **Agency:** Take ownership and act rather than waiting for permission; remove blockers and follow through until the work is done.

- **Judgement:** Aim for high-impact decisions, keep the bigger picture in mind, move quickly and confidently, and be thoughtful about when a call truly matters.

- **Learning Velocity:** Pick up new skills quickly and let go of old habits when better approaches emerge; benchmark against the best and keep raising the bar.

- **Tenacity:** Stay engaged when things get hard, keep composure under pressure, debate openly before deciding, then commit fully and support each other.

## What’s in it for ShopBackers

- Career growth opportunities to take on greater challenges aligned with your ambitions.

- Be part of a winning team on a journey to global scale.

- Competitive compensation based on performance.

- A candid, open, and collaborative culture where feedback is valued.
