We employ more than 3,500 people across our London, Southampton, Cardiff, and Manchester offices. ## Reconciliation Specialist (Treasury Operations) Starling Bank is looking for a Reconciliation Specialist to join our Treasury Operations team. In this role, you will ensure the accuracy of the Bank’s cash and suspense accounts while safeguarding customer balances. You will actively manage and resolve transaction breaks to maintain financial integrity, and drive continuous improvement by streamlining, automating, and strengthening daily reconciliation processes. This is a 12-month fixed term contract, running from November 2026 to 2027. ## Key Responsibilities - Perform daily reconciliations of cash and suspense accounts across domestic and international payment schemes. - Investigate, track, and resolve customer transaction breaks and ledger discrepancies in a timely manner. - Collaborate with Payments, Engineering, FinCrime, and Treasury Back Office teams to ensure correct payment posting and entry clearing. - Take direct ownership of reconciliation issues, ensuring prompt escalation of outstanding items. - Coordinate and assist internal bank teams with investigations and efficient incident resolution. - Seek opportunities to improve processes, workflows, and reconciliation automation. - Identify and drive improvements in risk controls. - Maintain existing and create new procedural documentation. ## Knowledge and Experience - Proficiency in reconciliations principles. - Knowledge of payment schemes (e.g., BACS, FP, CHAPS, CICS, SEPA) and MT/ISO 20022 MX payment messages. - Intermediate Excel / Google Sheets skills (minimum required level). - Bonus: Familiarity with AI tools for process automation, data reconciliation, and workflow optimisation. ## Skills and Competencies - Eagerness to learn new tools and systems while proactively seeking ways to streamline processes. - Confidence liaising across departments when escalating issues and seeking solutions. - Ability to manage workload and prioritise tasks. - Strong analytical and investigative skills. - High attention to detail. - Detail- and process-oriented approach, comfortable working with large volumes of data and numbers. ## Benefits - 25 days holiday (plus your public holiday allowance, taken when it works best for you). - An extra day’s holiday for your birthday. - Annual leave increases with length of service; option to buy or sell up to five extra days off. - 16 hours paid volunteering time per year. - Salary sacrifice and a company enhanced pension scheme. - Life insurance at 4x your salary. - Private Medical Insurance with VitalityHealth, including mental health support and cancer care.
