Posted 2026-08-10; applications close 2026-10-09. **Apply**: https://jobs.thermofisher.com/global/en/job/TFSCGLOBALR01357743EXTERNALENGLOBAL/material-handler-ii---1st-shift-(matrix) Posted 8d ago. ## Role details ## Material Handler II (Matrix) – 1st Shift **Compensation:** $20.50/hr ## Work Schedule First Shift (Days) ## Environmental Conditions - Cleanroom: no hair products, jewelry, makeup, nail polish, perfume, exposed piercings, facial hair, etc. - Loud noises (equipment/machinery) - Some degree of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required (e.g., safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs, etc.) ## Job Summary Under the direct supervision of the Manufacturing Supervisor, the Material Handler supplies molding machines with raw material, components, and scrap containers, and performs line clearance procedures following ISO 9001 (Quality Work Instructions). This role also helps set up secondary molding equipment, including cleaning dryers (Nova-Tech, Conair), machine throats, and moving secondary equipment into place (per training guidelines). ## Responsibilities - Able to navigate basic SAP screens (Transaction Codes) to look up on-hand inventory balances as needed. - Communicate with coworkers which machines need hoppers cleaned, dyers cleaned, etc. - Record resin lot numbers on machine activity lot control forms per Quality Work Instructions. - Check at the beginning of each shift to ensure there is enough resin available. - Ensure hoppers, wands, and drain hoses are properly cleaned before and after material changeovers. - Order all components, resins, colorants, and materials needed for job changeovers. - Assist in isolating/separating NCR’d product on the shop floor as requested. - Perform line clearance procedures such as resin and scrap returns per Quality Work Instructions. - Support 5S. - Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor. - Alert the supervisor or set-up personnel when problems first begin. - Adhere to all company and departmental work and safety rules. - Able to operate machines or operations in the department as assigned. ## Keys to Success ### Education - High School diploma or GED required. ### Experience - Minimum 1 year of work experience in distribution, warehouse, supply chain, or a related field required. - Experience with powered industrial trucks (order pickers/forklifts) preferred. ### Knowledge, Skills, Abilities - Basic understanding of SAP and use of weigh scales. - Ability to perform simple math (add/subtract whole numbers). - Ability to read, write, and understand the English language. - Must be licensed to operate a walkie truck. - Knowledge of MS Office, including Microsoft Word and Excel. ## Physical Requirements / Work Environment - Excellent hand/eye coordination skills. - Ability to lift and load pallets with weights up to 35 pounds. ## What We Offer ### Compensation - Additional shift differential for 2nd shift and 3rd shift positions. - Annual performance-based bonus. - Annual merit performance-based increase. ### Excellent Benefits - Benefits & Total Rewards | Thermo Fisher Scientific - Medical, dental, and vision benefits effective Day 1. - Paid time off and designated paid holidays. - Retirement savings plan. - Tuition reimbursement. - Employee referral bonus. - Career advancement opportunities. ## Compensation and Benefits (Additional Details) The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in New York is $14.41–$21.61. This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
