Our products handle information at massive scale and extend well beyond web search. We’re looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas across areas including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale systems design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design, and mobile. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs, with opportunities to switch teams and projects as the business evolves. The Product Security team is a global group of 300+ engineers located in Zurich, Munich, Sunnyvale, Seattle, San Francisco, and other locations worldwide. Our mission is to keep Google products secure and users safe. Safe Coding supports that mission by managing major risks in software security. We innovate at scale by making secure coding effortless for everyone. We are also bootstrapping our presence in Asia-Pacific (APAC) by establishing a brand-new Singapore hub. In this role, you will play a key part in establishing our engineering culture and bringing innovation to our new location. The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products, owning and advocating for underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure to drive safe, coherent experiences and accelerate innovation across the company. ## Responsibilities - Deliver exceptional software engineering by diving into the codebase, building robust solutions, and contributing to key system foundations. - Partner closely with technical leads, product managers, and technical program managers to execute the team’s goals and bring the Artificial Intelligence (AI) strategy to life. - Stay abreast of the rapidly developing agentic threat landscape and adapt to a dynamically changing AI environment—move fast, write exceptional code, and engineer new solutions to old problems. - Collaborate with partner teams in Google’s Software Supply Chain Integrity program and engineering stakeholders to seamlessly integrate security solutions. ## Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience. - 1 year of experience in software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript). - 1 year of experience with data structures and algorithms. ## Preferred Qualifications - 1 year of experience building software for data privacy or security (e.g., identity and access management). - Experience using, building, or contributing to developer ecosystems, package managers, and build systems. - Knowledge of software supply chain security issues, vulnerability management, or related areas. - Active participation in open-source development, or experience working with projects that have heavy open-source dependencies. - Passion for designing seamless, intuitive developer experiences and workflows. - Enthusiasm for collaborating cross-organizationally to deliver significant technical impact. ## Applying to this role This Software Engineer, Safe Coding Team role at Google runs through the firm's own careers portal and expects a CV and cover letter written specifically for the posting, not a portable submission carried across firms.
