You could be a great fit if you’re: - **Intellectually curious:** Eager to understand what drives decisions, trends, and opportunities—and ready to dig deeper. - **A natural communicator:** Able to break down complex ideas, ask smart questions, and share your views confidently. - **Detail-focused and analytical:** Spot what others might miss, understand why precision matters, and enjoy interpreting data to find patterns and insights. - **A resilient problem solver:** Stay focused under pressure, prioritise what matters, and look for solutions; motivated to keep learning and tackle new challenges. - **Adaptable:** Open to new ideas, tools, and ways of working, as financial markets don’t stand still. - **A team player:** Build trusted relationships and collaborate well with others to learn and grow. ## What you’ll do During your internship, you’ll rotate between Sales and Trading desks to see how both sides work together to help clients succeed. - Work around market hours, with the busiest moments often at market open and close. - Get hands-on with data and global market dynamics by analysing market trends, spotting patterns, collecting and presenting data, contributing to reports, and supporting client pitches. - Maintain trading and sales performance records and contribute to real projects that strengthen client relationships and trading strategies. - Support client portfolios with Sales and Trading teams and learn about key asset classes, including foreign exchange, emerging market rates, commodities, global debt markets, equities, and securities financing. - Build tools and finance models using Excel, VBA, or Python to support trading and sales activity. - Learn to use industry platforms such as Bloomberg, Reuters, and HSBC’s own tools that support global markets. - Build a strong foundation in financial products and how they’re used. - Learn how risk and profitability are managed while helping clients make smart decisions. ## Programme details The programme kicks off with a week of technical and behavioural skills training to give you the confidence and tools to hit the ground running. By the end of the internship, you’ll know whether a role in Sales or Trading is your best fit.
